Artist from ECCC2018, Lucy Bellwood

Lucy was on the getting started as an independent comic artist panel and excellently explained many of the challenges of getting started. She is very open about the challenges and financial problems of being an independent artist. The money is not consistent seems to be the biggest issue, so month to month requires long term planning. She also talked about doing comics about wooden sailing ships, it made me wish dad was alive so I could share it with him. His love of building model ships is something I remember about growing up. Not a hobby for me, but I know it was something he loved. So that resonated with me, but also Lucy spent time working on an oceanographic vessel doing art illustrating the trip. It is a very cool program you can see more on her site about it. Her style is straight forward, easy to read, and very approachable. Her upcoming work, I got a sheet of stickers for it, is "100 Demon Dialogues" where she explores 100 days of the demons of self-doubt t

Art and artists we like. In this case someone I found at Emeral City Comic Con 2018, Bob Q! A nice flair for black & white line work, I liked it and found it interesting.  I picked up a copy of his "Travelling Adventures with Kiri", "Guntown", "Scarves" and "Pumpkinhead!" mini-comic.   http://bobqdraws.storenvy.com/ Links so you don't have to type: instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/kingofsmaster/ facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/BobQDraws/ tumblr:  http://a1courier.tumblr.com/ Twitter:  https://twitter.com/robotjq YouTube:   https://www.youtube.com/user/RobotJQ
